Owling or night birding in general offers a different level of excitement for me because of the added difficulty of finding nocturnal birds in their most active state in dark (natural habitat).
Below are some of the photos of the Giant Scops Owl a.k.a Mindanao Eagle-Owl taken during an extended 2:30AM (morning) owling in the cold mountains of northern Mindanao. Needless to say, there was hardly time for a comfortable sleep but the rewards outweighs the inconvenience/physical stress.
