Hi, please ID. We saw all of these birds on the same day in Pasonanca, Zamboanga. Sorry for the poor quality of the shots! These are the best shots I have of these birds. I just want to get the ID. I hope they are identifiable!! Thanks! Bird #1 Is this a Barred Honeybuzzard? Bird #1 Bird #2 No idea what this is. Bird #3 Is this an Oriental Honeybuzzard? It has "window panes" on the wings. Bird #4 Is this another Barred Honeybuzzard? Bird #4 View of the top part of the wings

Bird 2 is an Osprey Bird 1: it lacks any barring on the wing linings, flanks and belly that - adult at least - Barred HB is supposed to have, though there is some on the undertail. However it has more bars on the underwing than is normal for OHB, and it has a heavily streaked breast. The head is pigeon-like indicating Pernis sp. - also the tail pattern. It doesn't look very big judging from the wing loading. It matches photos of Barred HB that I have from Anita Gamauf so I would have to agree that it is that species. Bird 4 does seem to show the same features, too.
Birds 3 has large wings, a small head and a long tail. The innermost primaries and outermost secondaries appear to form a dark panel, while the base of the outermost primaries seems to show a window. I will need to do more research on this one.

Thank you Des! When I zoom into my photo of Bird #1, I can actually see barring on the belly/bottom half of the bird's body. Looking forward to hearing your findings on Bird #3!

I think bird 3 is also a Barred Honeybuzzard. We can see windows in the base of the outer primaries in birds 4 and 5 too. The folded tail is notched in the same way; the head is small; there are tear drop streaks on the breast; the primaries have lots of bars; the legs look rather weak. The tail does look unusually long though.

But then again, the wings look so much broader...
