Wooohoooo I finally got an Avocet !!! Hahahaha but how I wish I was able to get it here in the Philippines. Wency and I went birding in 2 areas. One is right beside the coast where the birds are extremely easy to take photos of and the second area was at this marshland that was about 5 minutes away from the house where we were staying in. It was a lot like Candaba in many ways. The weather wasn't always so cooperative so you will have to put up with the rotten background in some photos. These are only some of the birds that I have taken. I took so many photos that it has become quite tiring to process each and every one that I want to share so I will do this in installments... at 0% interest pa if you want ;D I'm not really familiar with these birds so please correct me if I mislabelled them. Thanks. Here goes nothing.... Whimbrel (I get so mixed up with Curlew and Whimbrel so please correct me if I am wrong)40D + EF 400mm 5.6L ; f/6.3 ; ISO 400 ; tripod + Gimbal head American Avocet40D + EF 400mm 5.6L ; f/8 ; ISO 320 ; handheld Anna's Hummingbird (nesting at the yard of the home of Wency's bestfriend)40D + EF 400mm 5.6L ; f/5.6 ; ISO 500 ; tripod + Gimbal head Brown Pelican40D + EF 400mm 5.6L ; ISO 400 ; f/6.3 ; handheld Anna's Hummingbird (puffing and spreading it's wings) 40D + 400mm 5.6L ; ISO 400 ; f/5.6 ; tripod & gimbal head Please click here if you want to see the rest of the gallery.

Wow, Tina, you got my 100% interest here. ;D I hope I can get these birds too when I go there. The Avocet in flight is just awesome! Not really sure, but the Black-chinned could be another Anna's, a young male most likely. Let's wait for the expert's say on this.

HehEHehhEhehe Bob I'm sure you will get to take a lot of photos of birds when you go there soon. I think you are right, the other hummer is most probably just another Anna. The black-chinned has a slender body and this definitely does not have a slender body - LOL !! Sige, I will label it as Anna. Thanks Bob. Mick : Thanks a lot

Thank you Ramon. I am still dreaming of the day that my husband will say yes to staying overnight (or 2 nights would be better) at Bangkong Kahoy.

Brilliant series of shots worthy of not only "crazy smiles" but a whole lot more.
Happy birding.
