Perhaps the most common bird here in Costa Rica is the Collared Sparrow, which ca be seen everywhere even on high altitudes. This picture was taken from San Gerardo de Dota, which has an altitude of around 2600 mts ASL. 7D, 400mm f/5.6L lens, f/7.1, 1/400s ISO 400, Manual Exposure, Tripod+GH

Wow, excellent detail on this one, Ariel! May be the most common bird there but it is still something new to us. Thanks for sharing!

Loads of details, Ariel. I captured the Collared Sparrow in Macchu Picchu, Peru some years ago but with my peewee camera.

It may appear similar to our ETS but the Rufous Collard Sparrow has zebra like stripes on its head. Nice perch, composition and exposure. I like this bird. Well done Ariel & Mabuhay.

Thanks Ely and Ramon. I initially thought that this specie is similar to our ETS but I realized it has a crest and some other details that Ely described. Here's another shot with an upright crest. ISO 200,

Your photos always look amazing Ariel. It is such a treat to see birds that are not normally seen here in the Philippines.
I think most of us have been dreaming of one day going to costa rica to go birding with you :-)

Very good detail, nicely melted background, and a very photogenic bird on an equally photogenic perch. Beautiful, Ariel.
