Carmela Balcazar and I took a trip to the John Perrine Farms in Manolo Fortich for possible environmental conservation projects + bird and butterfly watching. Neon was supposed to go but he opted for freezing Mt. Pulag over the beautiful cool weather of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. Neil Konrad with the longer lens, will post the other nice birds in the area. We will definitely go back again. The accomodation is great and will be available for birdwatchers this summer. Please coordinate with Neil. Nice harvest, Lyd. I like the photo of the greedy Coppersmith Barbet eating 3 berries at the same time. I've been wanting to visit the John Perine Farm to go birding with Neil Konrad.

i also agree the barbet picture is the most interesting. there could actually be more than three berries in that beak. also reminds me of those famous puffin pictures with lots of fish on the beak. thanks telyds for these pictures.

Thanks everyone. des. We saw a pair of Black winged kites but it was too far for my butterfly lens. Neil Konrad was able to photograph the Kite and also some beautiful minivets. Yes, there should be more. @ramon. John Perrine's farm is beautiful to relax and do easy birding. My knees cannot tackle anymore the places suggested by Neil. I went with them halfway only to the nearest birding site where the Rufous Hornbill frequents. I opted to just butterfly watch and I am happy with the birds in the farm. The landscape and the facilities are superb. BK Valley is another category. You have 2 mountains embracing you. . @fred. The Fig tree is a low tree teeming with berries. The bazooka lenses will not work... you have to move back.

Wow, missed this chance to go there due to a cramped schedule, looks like I missed a lot! :-(
For the Barbet to carry such a load on its bill, surely it's feeding a nestling in a nest hole somewhere. Any planting materials you brought back form this fig, Te Lyds? would love to add this kind of tree to a reforestation project. :-)

A wonderful harvest, TeLyds. It looks like a great place to go birding. Another vote for the barbet.

Nice pics Telyds especially the Barbet. You have inspired me to come home more often to my home province, sweet Bukidnon home. I hope I could touch base with Neil Konrad soon.

This is in Manolo Fortich, Prof. Tirso, the John Perrine Farm. Neil Konrad (they call him NIKO there) is the farm manager. From where are you in Bukidnon? Baungon is a great place to bird and butterfly watch. I have been there 4 times. So we have somethings in common. I come from Laguna and I love Bukidnon. It is the other way around for you. lyd
