If ever you find yourself arriving at Bangkong kahoy past 10am and the birds are having their "siesta" already" don't despair as the are still birds around, if you are really persistent not to go home empty handed. It was great to bird with Ramon again after we went for the PEO in Balara more than a month ago. Hope to be joining him at the 3000 ft deck when it's a little bit drier. Anyway, here's what I got. It's the first time for me to get an open view of the Female Pygmy Flowerpecker which what I think was gathering nesting materials out of the hairs of the giant fern. Pygmy Flowerpecker ( Dicaeum pygmaeum) 5DM2 + 600 mm f4 IS + 2x Kenko TC, f4 (f8), 1/125 sec, ISO 650, manual exposure, Tripod-Gimbal support. Elegant Tit ( Pardaliparus elegans) f4 (f8), 1/60 sec

Wow, super macro shots, Neon. So much detail. You told me you have many photos of Elegant Tits but not any are worth posting. The one above is very nice - the black face and eye are clear and the yellow and white are not whited out, probably because you got the bird in the shade.
By the way, the next day, the ATV trail had sufficiently dried out and I was able to go up to 3,300 feet. I found a great vantage point that looks down on the top of an orange flowering tree 30 meters away. I got my best shots ever of the Chestnut-Faced Babbler exposed in the bright sun and a bunch of Colasisis, Mountain White-Eyes and various flowerpeckers. I will bring you and Ely there the next time.

These are the kinds of shots that I like. You remember me telling you that before when I was just starting out and you said I have to take 10s of thousands of shot. Just on the 1D I have taken over 70,000 and I hope I will have more shots like these. Well done Neon & Mabuhay.

Thanks Mick, Ramon, Ely, Rey, Mark, William and Ariel for your generous comments!
@ramon you are right, it was under the canopy that I shot the Tit, it helped as well that the sky was overcast at the time I captured it. Would really love to have a go at that new vantage point, I'm just hoping I find some time during this time off.

Neon, I'm going again to the new vantage point overlooking the orange flowering tree this Saturday (assuming the ATV trail is not muddy and slippery). You're welcome to join me on the second ATV.
