I was so excited to see this beautiful bird once again in Gujarat, India. Brings back memories of my first encounter with this bird 3 years ago in Caylabne Bay Resort with my birding buddy Bong. The bird was also busy foraging and didn't mind me as I was trying to get as much photographs as I can taking opportunity of the rare encounter. This is my favorite image because of the melted background as I was shooting very low the ground. Hoopoe (Upupa epops), Gujarat, India, January 2012 50D + EF500, f5.6, 1/1600, ISO400, Manual Exposure, Handheld

A fine shot of this beautiful bird, Rey. You must have been very hoopoe to have been able to photograph this bird again. ;D

Beautiful shot and the low-angle made it more interesting.

Nice capture, Rey. That must have been a thrill to see a Hoopoe in Caylabne, as they are a rare migrant in the Philippines.

Thank you Ariel, I always strive to get them at that angle to melt the BG and the foreground so the bird will somehow pop out. :-)

Great shot ...we get a few of these as summer visitors to the UK although the only time I have seen these is on the island of Mallorca in the Mediterranean and only a few average records shots so far.

Thanks a lot Mick. Philippine official record is just a few sightings since the early 1900's.
