Before I used to go to the Cordilleras to look for montane species which entails a 10-12 hrs drive, like this sortie back in 2008. Now there is one that is just 2 hrs away - BK Valley. As usual without a legitimate sortie to go to, went to my HDD and relived the old days, still finding some unposted captures, as if I only shot 2 or 3 frames , during that time my trigger finger used to lock up when I get excited resulting in countless captures or the camera buffer runs out . Doing this I missed a lot of shots as it takes a while for the camera to store the captures and is disabled until it does. So learned my lesson and shot in burst of 3-4 frames after. Got this on the same series but framed (cropped) it differently. Citrine Canary-flycatcher ( Culicicapa helianthea) - Mt Data, November 22, 2008 30D + 600 f4 IS, f4, 1/180 sec, ISO 200, manual exposure, Tripod-Gimbal support.

Looking at these two birds I noticed that the eye wattle is also yellow to match with the feathers whereas the Mountain White-eye has white wattle to match it chest feathers. God in His infinite wisdom saw the need for a variety of designs to keep the bird watchers and photographers happy. Well done Neon & Mabuhay.

The bird has similarities with the yellow warbler of the Americas. The color blends very well with the background.

The bird's bright color make the bird pop from the environment. Wonderful catch, Neon.
