This one will make Madam Butterfly (TeLyds) a little sad. I got this individual having a caterpillar for lunch at Kampo Trexo, Alfonso, Cavite last Saturday. These guys are always a challenge to shoot as they are small and in perpetual motion. The light from the mid-day sun was harsh and the bird's position under the leaves didn't help. Heck I was shooting ISO 1250 at noon! Thanks for looking. Hope you like it. Lowland White-eye ( Zosterops meyeni) 40D, 400 f/5.6 L, ISO 1250, f/5.6, 1/320 sec, manual exposure, handheld, some NR on background

I think Lyds is going to be happy about it as she knows because the caterpillar has given nourishment to this beautiful bird. This is where someone once said it does not matter what size of lens you use but how you used it. Well done Mark & Mabuhay.

If the birds ignore the cats. we will be in trouble! This type of cats. are widespread, I'd say the most common, and if the population is not checked, it will finish up its host plant - well they become pests! Great shot idol-Mark. Next time, look around for the butterfly. I have heard from Ricky de Castro of Team Energy that on certain season of the year, there are thousands and thousands of Eurema butterflies (yellow ones) in a baranggay in Alfonso Cavite, spectacular sight but a lot casualties, too. :Dtelyd

Thank you for the kind words, everyone.
@ely: You are right, the capture made TeLyds happy and not the opposite.
@telyds: Wow, that's great information about this type of caterpillar. The guys at Kampo Trexo cautioned us about the higads; there were plenty of them when we were there. Interestingly, I could not remember seeing butterflies (maybe I was too busy with the birds ;D).
