We had a hard time identifying this bird. It does not look like a regular Eurasian Wigeon. It turns out it was in eclipse plumage. I was able to take a relatively low level shot. EURASIAN WIGEON, male in eclipse plumage Anas penelopeSabtang, Batanes 1/500 f8

I think this is a beautiful bird when it gets its full plumage. Well done Tonji & Mabuhay.

Thanks guys. When I took this it was the first time for us to see this duck. But since then we saw them again twice already. I hope they go to Candaba this season and give us good views.

Thanks guys. I have some other pics of this species in the usual plumage with the white stripe on the head but they are rather far. Maybe one day I will get a good with the white stripe.
We had a long back and forth with Christian and Robert regarding the ID of this bird. We ended up taking lots of pictures to make sure we got our ID correct.
