Hi, we spent a few days in the Philippines last week and saw a couple of birds on Corregidor that we couldn't quite identify. Sorry for the low-quality photos - the sunbird caught us completely off-guard and the swallow-like bird was at a great distance. Sunbird: We thought this bird was a swallow when we were watching them based on how it was flying, but in the photos it almost looks swift-like: Also, is this a Philippine Bulbul? Thanks for any help in identifying these!

Great catch you have here, Gloria!
On my visit to Corregidor I was not able to see any sunbirds, glad to know they are present. From the looks of its not to decurved bill and a little wash of red feathers on its belly flank, and the only one which has a red around the mid belly area is a male Purple-throated sunbird this ones a juvenile.
The swift has a white rump, and it well could be a house swift.
Yes, PBB

Thank you Neon! That's very helpful to know! We saw a lot of great birds - it's too bad there isn't a dedicated birdwatching tour for Corregidor!
