So glad to capture the female of this endemic KF species after the male visited UP two years ago have not been back since then. Saw the bird with Alain and Rock at around 2:30 PM and we never stopped shooting until it got too dark to shoot anymore. Needless to say, went home happy but bone tired with more than 40 gigs of captures. Got this capture late in the afternoon when the bird was already comfortable with our presence and allowed us to approach within full frame distances. It was already dark at this point in time and really hard to get sharp images, had to throw away maybe 5 to 6 blurries for each decent capture. Spotted Wood Kingfisher (Actenoides lindsayi), Quezon City, 10-18-11 50D + EF500, f5.0, 1/30 sec, ISO 800, Manual Exposure in ambient light, Handheld holding a tree trunk
