Inspite of its size, it is not easy to photograph this bird as it is always on the move. I've been chasing this for so long and this is the only time I got a decent shot. 7D+400mm, f/8.0, ISO 500

Wow another beautiful bird. I am glad that you are having the chance to go birding and capturing all these beautiful birds. We are experiencing a lot of rain and do not have the chance to make plans to go birding in nearby areas like Candaba. It if flooded and will take months for the water to recede and the road to dry. Keep on birding. Well done Ariel & Mabuhay.

congrats for the nice capture! i wonder why is it called squirrel cuckoo. is it because the color of the feathers and it being on a constant move resembles that of a squirrel?

Nice capture, Ariel! Central and South America have the most spectacular birds. I totally agree with you. There are just a lot of birds with wild colors all around.
