Same with Bob's ID, looks like a Mangrove Blue Flycather to me. Male - Adult on top and Immature "fledgling" below Since it's from Camiguin Is. its the Endemic race ( Cyornis rufigastra philippinensis)

The adult is of course a male. Beautiful shots. I presume your Camiguin is Camiguin Sur, not the one in the Babuyanes.

hi Bob K., N.R. II and des, thanks for the ID...yes in Camiguin Island north of Mindanao...a different race perhaps that is living in Camiguin Is. The one i saw here in mainland Mindanao are relatively smaller.

Possibly an undescribed subspecies, but has anyone caught and measured enough on Camiguin and your area of Mindanao to account for individual variation?

Hi Renoir, I'm sorry we missed you Camiguin. We moved out last month. Where exactly did you see this bird? Was it at the hot springs? I almost always saw one there.

Hi Renoir, I haven't seen the species in Mindanao, so I cannot compare the relative size. We are back in the UK for this year, but hope to be based in Davao when we return. Did you make it right up to the crater lake?
