Feather-deprived for quite some time now so I went to the HD last night for some virtual birding. ;D An adult Coppersmith Barbet ( Megalaima haemacephala) emerges from its hole to gather more food for its young. Taken April last year in Quezon City, Philippines. Took me some time to decide on the framing and settled for this. Thanks for looking. C&C welcome and appreciated. 40D, 400 f/5.6, ISO 320, f/7.1, 1/100 sec, manual exposure, tripod/gimbal

I got a very similar shot of the CSB but not this sharp . My lens was too short. As always, Mark, your captures are excellent! Hey, get out and shoot fresh ones! telyd

Very nice Mark, lots of fine details and the BG's very good too. If this were mine, I'll adjust the brightness, it's a little bit hottish, there's almost no details on the yellow eye patch. Maybe I'll try to adjust again in conversion. The color yellow's really tough to expose together with very dark colors.

I will try to reprocess and try 'burning' those areas more aggressively.

Thank you, Edwin. Here's a repost. I darkened the image a little, toned down the hot areas, adjusted the composition, and boosted the saturation a bit.

The second photo is better, but I think just capturing that moment is something special already. Very nice image. :-)

Mark, the second photo is much better. Indeed, it seems like a macro shot with all the fine details.
