Great Crested TernsSterna bergiiThese birds were incubating their eggs when we arrived in Bird Island. They were the nearest birds to our tent. They would not fly away if we were careful and it was a joy to photograph them. The eggs are just on the ground and we could see first hand why these islets are off limits to all humans. The protection given by Tubbataha Management Office is what is keeping this place a true sanctuary for seabirds. It made us happy, proud and hopeful that this kind of program is working in the Philippines. We could see first hand what kind of treasure we have in Tubbataha, and even now a few days later we are still feeling a happy glow that comes from seeing something very special. The first picture is Sylvia's and mine is the second one. We are combining our posts so we don't have multiple posts of the same birds. Canon 5dmk2, 300mm f2.8, 1/800, f6.3, ISO 160, manual exposure, tripod Canon 5dmk2, Canon 100-400mm, 400mm FL, 1/1000, f7.1, ISO200, manual exposure, handheld We have other pictures of these birds in our website if you want to see more of them. tonjiandsylviasbirdlist.smugmug.com/List/terns/Great-Crested-Tern/17043150_CsSrqq#1291165523_r4PXQrG

Thanks guys. We are glad you like the pictures. These birds have the Rock Star look when not flying. But when they are moving fast the hairdo is smooth and aerodynamic. 5dMk2, 100-400mm, 400mm FL, 1/1600, f6.3, ISO 200, handheld
