this is just one of my favorite shots and probably one of the best shots i have using my nikkor af 70-300m g lens.
photo was taken using nikon d5000 and the abovementioned lens at 250mm, 1/500 sec., iso-800 and +0.3 exposure compensation.
i was so fascinated with this bird because they are so hardworking. i was able to observed this bird for three day just at our backyard. i was able to observe behavioral patterns like:
1. two birds will work on one hole. 2. one bird will work for about 30 minutes or so, except for one occasion wherein one bird really pecked for more than an hour, while the other is looking for food (i think). 3. a bird would knock on the wood about 10 times, signalling for a replacement. 4. before the substitute would peck into the hole, s/he would look around first.
i wish i could post a set here but i don't know how. could someone guide me how to post a set of photos? thanks!

Hi Mark, you can use the insert image icon, inserting the URL of your images that should be in an image hosting site like Flickr or SmugMug. You can repeat on clicking the insert image icon inserting your image URL one by one. Our max image size is 1200 pixels on the longest size. This is the preferred way of posting in our forum and not attaching the image to save on bandwidth usage. Nice capture of the Endemic Woodpecker by the way.
