Ah, like the flowerpeckers, this is one bird that scatters the seed of the Lantana camara, one of the worst weeds in the world, an indicator that a habitat has been deforested. The consequence is when one cuts down a fruiting tree, an invasive species will set in. The innocent birds, now lacking in food, will feed on the invasive species and scatter it- nothing else grows where they grow. Thank you for sharing this beautiful picture even if it gives a sad message. I feel preachy today. Genesis 1 says the Lord has provided vegetation to man and also seed producing plants to wildlife. With greed, man destroyed his share and destroyed the wild-life's share, too. With the spread of invasive species... I'd conclude it is payback time, silent retribution by birds.

Hmmmm.... AWESOME capture Toto ! I've been to the mountain province lots of times (lots na daw 3 times - hehehhe) but I have never ever gotten a decent picture of this bird. It moves from branch to branch so often that it's quite a challenge to get a sharp picture whenever I try to capture it. I would be extremely happy with a shot like this. Galing !!!

THanks Tina! 3 times is a lot already! Baka this bird is shy and is wearing some protective amulet from your bird powers. I am sure in your 4th try, you'll nail this one. I was just lucky to have this bird at close range. But I had wished there was more light so the noise is toned down. Congratulations on the lifer, Toto THanks Doc Will! Another beautiful capture, Toto! Wow! THanks Alain!
