Finally after a long hiatus from birding I was able to go out, many thanks to Tonji and Sylvia for bringing me showing me the place where the francolin is making a last stand. We could here them calling but it was difficult to locate them. They sounded so near but the call sounds like its coming from several directions. We were able to flush 2 birds that we thought was somewhere else and it was just right in front of us. We decided to stop at a clearing, when we were sent on circles by there call, and just wait. From a distance we saw this bird foraging and crossing a wide clearing allowing us good view but from a distance. The amount of space between our camera and the bird made it difficult to get sharp focus as the ground was well heated and heat waves were in effect to make for soft captures. Chinese Francolin ( Francolinus pintadeanus) 40D + 600mm f4 IS + 1.4x Sigma TC, f 5.6, 1/400 sec, ISO 200, manual exposure on car window. Will try to post the other captures later...
