The White-Lored Oriole is a separate species in some books or a race of the Philippine Oriole in others. WBCP lists it a race of the Philippine Oriole. Our website PBPF follows a different list, and its considered a separate species. To avoid confusion I will follow the PBPF list when posting in PBPF. Either way its an endemic bird. It has an interesting white lore which separates it from the other races of the Philippine Oriole. This bird is a great singer. This particular bird gave us an entire concert. It was the best way to see a lifer. A long view. Lots of photos. And a great song. Super bird. White-Lored Oriole Oriolus albilorisCanon 5dMk2, 700mm, 1/200, f7.1, ISO 400, tripod

Beautiful capture of this White-lored Oriole that I am seeing for the first time. The eyes say it all and if that is not enough look at it from the top of the head to the tip of the tail. I am betting that this will be the FBPW. Well done Tonji & Mabuhay.

Rey, thanks for the nice comments. We were on a small hill beside this tree so we were nicely elevated. It decreased the effective angle and gave us a better photo than if we were not on the hill. Ely, I am glad you like it. Its a Luzon bird so you may encounter it one day. I am sure you will take a great picture with your 800mm. Ariel, thanks. This was one of our target birds. We were happy to have seen it so well. William, thank you.

Brilliant shot! I have only ever sen this bird in silhouette in pouring rain By the way, it is only lumped with Philippine oriole in the wbcp list on a technicality.

Des- sounds like you had bad weather that day. I would not want to be in Hamut in the pouring rain. We were lucky with the weather and this species. The bird would tilt its head back sometimes when singing, sort of like when a singer tilts her head back to reach a high note. Nicky took a long video of this bird singing.
Edwin- thanks. We were fortunate to see this bird in a nice perch.
