The blind really allows you for some spooky-ly real shots. Feel like the bird's right on my nose.

thanks for the comments guys. i was lucky to hear how the PSH's call sounds like. it was making a territorial display in front of me after taking this shot by beating on the water with its wings because another one was approaching it

Nice one JP! I was about to post my Pukeko also... I'll add it to your thread instead. These guys are quite funny in that they tend to chase each other around. Your grass looks wilder than mine though! Although really cool to see birds from around the world in one spot.

Both excellent shots !!!! Congratulations JP and Chris Had a hard time viewing the photos though - geeeezzzz dial up is sooooooo slowwwww. Ho Hummmm will have to put up with this while waiting for my DSL to get fixed

The Pukeko was on a rise so I didn't have to be on my belly. I have to say that these are pretty 'common' in Sydney as I start to travel with eyes wide open for birds. I do find the colours quite vibrant and the 'head shield' makes it look pre-historic. The floating blind pays of once more! Nice JP! Chris, were you lying prone on the ground to get your shot?
