The Quetzal, one of the most beautiful bird in the world and yet also one of the most elusive and difficult to find. This time, I didn't get the chance to come closer compared to last year but given the very-low light shooting conditions and the degree of difficulty to reach the place, I certainly have no complains. 7D, 400mm, f/5.6, ISO1600, 1/100s, Exp Comp +1/3 7D, 400mm, f/5.6, ISO 2500, 1/250s, Exp Comp +1/3 7D, 400mm, f/5.6, ISO 2000, 1/125s, Exp Comp +1/3

The ones last year were super. Your consolation is that you have seen the most beautiful bird again. It is my dream to take a full bodied picture of this bird. Cheers Ariel & Mabuhay.

this bird is such a phoenix how I long to see it one day Thanks Evanjohn. You won't believe it when you see the busloads of people who come in such a remote place as San Gerardo just to see this bird. It is not even 100% sure that you see can see this bird on a given day. Some more information about the bird: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resplendent_Quetzal

I definitely agree that the pictures I had before was much better compared to these. Last year, we were able to see the bird very close to where we were standing and the light was a bit friendly. Last weekend, it was tough. Many people were literally fighting for space just to be able to get a glimpse of this elusive bird. Also, the bird was a bit far and was almost always would stay inside the dark canopies. I was told by my guide that there were no sightings for two days and could be the reason why many people came over the weekend and took the chance. It is indeed unbelievable that people from other countries come here just to have an experience to see this wonderful bird even if it isn't 100% sure!
