I was able to process the remaining pictures that I took in Subic about a week ago. I was pleasantly surprise to see about 40 Red-crested Malkoha but they were difficult to photograph as they transferred from one tree to the other and under the tree's foliage. There was also a Colasisi who preferred to stay high up in a coconut tree and the colorful Blue-throated Bee-eaters of Subic. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM, Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, Wimberley WH200 head. Manual exposure in available light. Red-crested Malkoha (Phaenicophaeus superciliosus) Endemic to the Philippines 1/800 sec., f/5.6, ISO 800 Green Imperial Pigeon (Ducula aenea) 1/800 sec., f/5.6, ISO 800 Philippine Hanging Parrot or Colasisi (Loriculus philippensis) Endemic to the Philippines 1/160 sec., f/5.6, ISO 400 Blue-throated Bee-eater (Merops viridis) 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 400 Blue-throated Bee-eater (Merops viridis) 1/100sec., f/5.6, ISO 400 Blue-throated Bee-eater (Merops viridis) 1/200 sec., f/5.6, ISO 400

Quite a bounty you have here, Ely! The first bee-eater shot is my fave. Thank you Mark. I agree with you. It has a lot of details and you can see the butterfly split at the end of the tail.

I love those shots of the bee-eaters. Wonderful! Thank you Ariel. Subic is about 186 kilometers from Manila compared to 68 kilometer to Candaba. But it only take 2 1/2 hours to get there compared to 1 1/2 hours because of the good roads. Going thru NLEX, SCTEX, and Subic will now cost Php 365 on one direction.
