i tried my luck at the buff-banded rails that telyds posted. i didn't get to see them at hardin this morning. i got this instead... and doc mando on my way out of the "grassland". Bravo, Gabs! If not for those blurred/soft branches/twigs (better not be the chicken wires), it could have been a perfect pic! Nevertheless, it is excellent as the color combinations are superb, fine details with the habitat!

thanks rey! this moorhen came out feeding at just about the right time, before the sun got harsh. alain, those are vegetation blocking full view of the bird. was hiding in tall grass to pull off this shot. unfortunately, there were some tall grass about a meter from where i dug in for the ambush.
