Just came back from Bislig with the most hardcore group of Bird photogs (5 guys-Rey, Alain, Myself, Tonji, Nilo, and 1 Gal -Sylvia) where we had a close encounter, on a flowering tree, our namesake handsome sunbird and despite the continuous rain, with umbrellas spread on our gears, we, all 6, dutifully fired our "guns away ad infinitum. Ok, maybe just a slight exaggeration, but by my estimate at least 200 shots each X 6 =1200 handsome sunbird images (a world record?). Unfortunately I cannot show all 1200 shots for now but here are a couple of samples from me. Handsome Sunbird (Aethopyga bella bella) Philippines Endemic Jan 29, 2011, Bislig, Surigao del Sur. The company was great with Nikki and Zardo assisting us. Chito

Now you are starting to post Doc... Do we expect the more than 200 sunbird pictures in this thread? Please make some notifications so everybody anticipates the 200 sunbirds! Congrats for nailing this sunbird, our namesake as you say, with the flowers in very clean background. I'm seeing some magenta cast on the upper edges of the flowers and on the feet and beak. I guess we experience the same notorious magenta cast effect in our cameras.

True Alain, the cast is the purple bifringence due the light subject against the dark background, which I could have but failed to remove in the post process. I was just too tired to reprocess. I will try to reprocess soon. Ty for the comment.

Fantastic images Doc Chito. I wouldn't mind looking at the other 1,200 pictures if it's this beautiful.
