Neon and I were at Candaba Marsh on the 4th of January. The geese have increased in number but they were just too far (except when they did a quick flyover and we were unable to react fast enough to get even a single shot ). Anyway here are my captures, the highlight being the Javan Pond Herons (there were 3 of them). Thanks for looking. C&C appreciated. Javan Pond Heron (non-breeding plumage?) 5DMkII, 500mm+1.4X, ISO-500, 1/800, f9, handheld (!) Javan Pond Heron (breeding plumage?) 5dMkII, 500mm+1.4X, ISO-250, 1/640, f9, handheld Purple Swamphen (lifer!) 5DMkII, 500mm+1.4X, ISO-640, 1/500, f6.3, taken from car window Striated Grassbird with mantis (?) in its beak 5DMkII, 500mm+1.4X, ISO-400, 1/640, f9, taken from car window Island Collared Dove (lifer!) 5DMkII, 500mm+1.4X, ISO-250, 1/500, f8, taken from car window

A very nice set Bob. These birds would have been much more tamer if not for the bird hunters. Thank you for sharing .

Very nice set, Bob! I like the way the birds are presented in their natural habitat, with all the leaves, branches, twigs, etc all around the species, and yet keeping the fine details and sharp eyes!

Great set with good detail, Bob! I love the pond herons. Were these taken at the same spot we saw one last time?
