Still don't know how to create animated gifs like Romy and Neon so just made this batch of pictures into a slideshow. Took these photos at Ixi's place yesterday. Ixi and I started the day by watching the kingfishers first then we went to TREES in Makiling but it was pretty quiet there so we decided to to go to Makiling Botanical garden - Sigh .... the birds were very far After Makiling Botanical, we went to look at the sunbirds at Pook and no sunbirds because the plants had no flowers. We decided to bird around Ixi's place and boyyyyy that village of Ixi is a bird magnet Thank you so much Ixi for the wonderful day yesterday - you da best !!!! Took these from Ixi's house since the Kingfishers were very wary of people. The moment they see people, they fly away. The vantage from Ixi's house is not bad at all, specially with a bazooka like Romys ;D

Gorgeous slideshow, Tina! The blue feathers really `sparkle' in your pics.
Good work finding the nest, too. How far away were you, and were they shy being photographed?

Wow Tina!!! Love every aspect of this shot!! especially the blue against the dominant greens and browns..wooohooo!! when do we go back!!! I'll make you a blow by blow GIF instructions!! if we go back ;D From the looks of your shots, the King fishers have chicks in the nest already and they are feeding them. If this is the case the chicks will fledge in another two weeks at the most!! We might miss the fledging day as we don't know the exact date of hatching. Here are some general facts about nesting behavior of this order. Eggs: 2-3, white. Incubation shared for 18-22 days. Young are atricial (chicks are blind and naked at hatching) in nest for 20-30 days.

Thank you Bindi, Neon and Romy.
Bindi: from where I was seated inside the house, maybe somewhere between 50-70 ft. They really didn't know that I was taking photos of them because they can't see me from the small opening at the window. They definitely don't like people around because they would always fly away 90% of the time whenever they see people walking on the street.
Neon: I'm game whenever you are but not this weekend coz Wency and I will be in Sta.Cruz, Subic and Anvaya ;D
