Was just checking some takes from my past sorties and got this warbler that has good enough IQ to get a positive ID. I don't have any reference with me and could not hazard a guess. Help in the ID is greatly appriciated. Thanks! Taken from Twin Lakes, Sibulan, Negros Oriental - September 13, 2010.

is early september too early for the arctic? Could be Philippine Leaf with the yellow part under the tail.

The short, very yellow supercilium that is broken as it passes the eye, and dark legs eliminate Arctic. It is either Philippine or Lemon-throated, as both occur on Negros. I would vote for Lemon-throated as it has the lemon throat and vent and lacks a wing bar, but there is almost no reference material for Philippine available, or for Lemon-throated on Negros. You will be happy to know that Arctic has been split up and 3 of the species will occur in the Philippines. They will most easily be separated by call Des

Wow! Thanks Des! another lifer!! woohoo!
No wonder I'm confused sometimes as I have arctic warbler photos with horn and orange colored feet. Could this be one characteristic that will differentiate each species, besides the calls?

I doubt there is anything as simple as that. You just need a sennheiser to plug in to your 5dII

I vote lemon-throated as they can be common on Negros. Here is where playback will help as only the L-tW will react once it hears its call.
