Hi! My name is Tirso Paris, an economics faculty member at the University of the Philippines Los Banos. I've been into photography for decades starting with a film SLR, then moving into Canon digital point and shoot cameras. I have always enjoyed photographing plants and flowers, people and events and a bit of macro-photography, but never birds, due of course to the limitations of my equipment. Lately, with my acquisition of a Canon 7D and a 70-200mm with 1.4TC and a 70-300mm DO IS, my interest in bird photography was greatly stimulated. Just last month, I shelled out again a fortune to acquire a 100-400mm hoping to improve on my bird pictures. I hope to learn a lot from you guys and let me say that I am always in awe with the beautiful pictures that are posted here and at your individual websites.

Thank you all very much indeed for accepting me to the PBPF. I feel especially humbled and honored to be welcomed by certified masters of bird (and butterfly) photography. I do appreciate your encouragement Sirs Romy, Edu, Mark, Clemn, Jun and Madame Lydia (I'm sure I'm older than all of you but my addressing you such is out of utmost respect and admiration for your work).
Kababayan Ike, I was so happy to learn from this forum that you're also into bird photography. By all means, let plan some shooting expeditions!

Just to let you know that one of my favorite subjects are butterflies. I do have a gallery of some butterflies shots I've taken at www.tbparis.com/photos/butterflies. I need help, however, on their common and scientific names. I would appreciate your suggestions as to references. Thanks a lot. Tirso

I share your excitement in bird photography. The thrill of establishing eye contact and capturing the moment with wild birds in their natural habitat is a priceless experience.
Hope to visit your studio (Mt. Makiling) soon.
Welcome to the group Tirso.
