I set aside Nov. 25-30 for a pure butterfly watching activity in Makiling and Mt. Banahaw. There were very few butterflies, and no birds close enough for my short lens in Makiling. My butterfly buddy from Hong Kong and I planned to spend 2 nights in BK Valley... but Ka Mela was right, it was not only raining but the wind was strong, we could see it in BK. In the open cottage, we waited and waited for the rain to stop but it didn't. Morning the next day, a barkada (about 8) of rough Malkohas were moving from one tree to another. It was very cold that with mist. This was taken from the cottage, my gear perched on the railing. Here was my morning delight. Full frames. available light, handheld ISO 1250 1/99

I think there is a song that goes something like at the end of every storm there is a rainbow. You got your rainbow in the form of these herd of Red Crested Malkoha. I don't know if Neon will accept Rough Crested Malkoha as its name as it can confuse the Newbies. Congratulation on getting close to this Philippine endemic. Mabuhay.
