Hi Romy! I went back to shoot the Ferruginous Fly Catcher this morning and tried using the Mirror Lock Up function of my camera. I was quite happy with the results as at camera LCD level, i was already seeing feather details. Things I seldom see using the usual continuous bursts that I was more familiar with. However, since it was a lock up and I can't see the bird's head, which keeps moving, through the "closed" viewfinder, I focused on the shoulders instead. I looked at the bird directly and released the shutter when I see the bird show its face. the problem is of course, the shoulder is sharper than face. I had to locally unsharp mask the beak and the eyes to make it look better. Attached are the full frame capture and the PP'd one. Comment on composition would be much appreciated too. Thanks for giving it a look Romy. I might start using the mirror up more often.
