Although I consider this sortie to be one of the worst if not the worst in terms of, Kilometers walked without firing a shot, amount of perspiration generated, hills climbed and obstacles encountered it was all compensated by the wonderful company and two lifers I got. Thanks guys (My wife Aphine, Ixi, Tina&Wency and of course Allan) I really had a grand time!!! We left Manila at around 02:30 and met up with Tina & Wency at SLEX Petron station. Left for Lucena at 03:30. Arrived Lucena at 06:00 and fetched Ixi at Queen Margaret Hotel. 07:30 parked our cars at QNP and started to walk the Pinagbanderahan Trail. Heading to “Pinagbanderahan” Trail – There is a 5 peso entrance fee. Tina! Here’s what you’ve missed and what we went through…Lucky we have Aphine carrying the 30D and she was shooting away to document this endeavor!! Sorry, after 4 hours of going through these, not a single bird photo!!! It might have been a different story if we went there not on a holiday as there were lots of people on the trail and have scared the birds away!! But when we parked along the hi-way I got these two lifers.. Orange Bellied Flowerpecker ( Diceaum trigonostigma) - 40D + 300 mm f4 IS + 1.4x Kenko TC (420mm), f 5.6, 1/100, ISO 640, Manual Exposure Buzzing Flowerpecker ( Dicaeum hypoleucum)40D + 300 mm f4 IS + 1.4x Kenko TC (420mm), f 5.6, 1/60, ISO 640, Manual Exposure And a bonus for Te lyds... Got to go I'll finish this later....

HEhEHheHEehE but boy am I glad that I decided not to join you guys at that HELL of a trail ;D The ONLY thing that made that trip worth it was the company !!!! Oh, thanks, Neon for the beautiful butterfly. I took the same trail last year with James, my butterfly mentor from Hongkong and Doc Chito and Aires. So the felled trees are still there. If only you looked closely, the most beautiful butterflies of the Philippines are on the floor of that trail, flying low, back and forth along the trail. We plan to go back there in early May- to butterfly watch, of course to do a little birding. BTW, QNP is in Atimonan, not Pagbilao, di ba?

If there were butterflies there it would have been scared away by the numerous people, who were noisy as well, using the trail. QNP is located inside Pagbilao, Atimonan and Padre Burgos. Oh Yes you are right, I thought it is still Pagbilao as it is nearer to that trail. Thanks for the correction.
