Luckily for some reason I accidentally brought my rig with me on a family outing and sneaked out when they were still knocked out from the previous days travel. Looks like the Great Cormorant did come back again this year with their young. Here is a docu, long range, cropped to death shot from Santa Cruz, Zambales. GREAT CORMORANT - Juvenile ( Phalacrocorax carbo) 40D + 600 mm f4 IS, f7.1, 1/1000 sec, ISO 200, Av priority, -1/3 EV, Tripod-Gimbal support, under available light 1/1600 sec.

Cool shots! They seem to be far away - how far were you from the bird? Also, from where did they come?

Neon, Good one. I don't know that I can recall every having seen a photo of this species from Phils.

Thanks Enrique and Sir Steve. @ Sir Steve, there were several photos of the Great Cormorant taken in 2008 when one visited Candaba. I tried to locate the posts in this forum but was unsuccessful. Anyway, here is the link to Romy's capture. www.pbase.com/liquidstone/image/90529749
