Ka Mastah, I've never noticed before but lately Rey pointed out to me that my pictures have always that Magenta cast on each of them that makes the colors of the birds/objects not correctly representative. Is there a way to correct this problem? How can we control or manage the colors to make it true? Here's a picture of the Philippine Ducks in Saud. Can you please help me improve this? May I know your comments on the composition, processing, etc. to make it Oconic? ;D Thanks! 1/1600, f/5.6, iso400

Hi Alain,
1. Being color-blind, I'm not competent to determine if photos have color cast. That said, I see many of your photos as "too cold" in WB for my taste.
2. The only way to get into the right color ball park is to have a calibrated and profiled monitor. A consumer TN panel if calibrated and profiled will give good colors as long as you know the limitation of the narrow viewing angle. An IPS or PVA panel is much better than TN because of the wider viewer angle; i.e. there is no or very little color shift even when viewing at different angles. Even as good as they are, IPS and PVA panels need to be calibrated and profiled too to yield great results. Doing PP work on an uncalibrated and unprofiled display is like working blind.
3. The photo is a very nice environmental shot - sharpening is ok and comp is acceptable, albeit I'd wish for more room all around the ducks. WB appears to be off and the birds are too dark relative to the brightish BG. I'll be candid to say that this isn't a frameable for me largely because of the busy BG. I see that you've shot wide open, so there's nothing more that can be done during capture to melt the BG. For good blurring, the BG should be relatively far from the subjects.

Thank you, Ka Mastah, for all your comments. I really think I have to properly manage my WB. I tried it in the picture and it looks like a proper WB will also lessen the magenta cast and the "too cold" impression.
A properly calibrated and profiled monitor is my limitation at present. I'm saving some resources for an AOC IPS so I can properly see the outcome of the photographs from my end.
Thanks a lot, we sure are learning here!
