After Ka Mastah's Judging duties (Canon Photomarathon), we took him to Jugan for some birding action, and we were surprised to see this Black-tailed Godwit all by it's lonesome in the middle of one of the ponds there! The lighting was terrible, and the bird was some distance off, so I had to use 2 pcs. of the Kenko 1.4X TC's to get more pixels out of the scene. The shot is good enough for our records - this is the first time this bird has been sighted in that area: Black-tailed Godwit (Limosa limosa) Taken on October 17, 2010 at 3.00pm at Jugan, Consolacion, Cebu. EOS 5D Mark II; 0.017 sec (1/60); f/6.7; 400 mm + 2 1.4X TC's; ISO 400; Exposure Bias +2 EV (Backlighted) A Rear View: Side and Front View:

These turned out pretty well despite the stacked TCs and the overcast skies, Bobby! Your processing looks very good as well on my LCD. Here's a couple of snapshots of the Jugan birdnuts shooting this BTG:

It looks like even the birdnuts have long straight bills as well. The bird is certainly prettier though.

My share of the BTG in Jugan. It was Sir Bobby K. who spotted this bird which to my unaided eye initially matched the general profile of the Common Greenshanks in the area. The distance and lighting condition at that time provided little help but I'm happy that we were able to capture these images which lead us to the ID. It was great to have Romy in this sortie. Special thanks to Sir Bobby K. for facilitating the trip/access to Jugan and hosting the post-shoot discussion on imaging including the sumptuous dinner Thanks. What a great catch. Congrats to Bobby and Nilo. Bobby that 400mm 1.4x (2x) combo gives a very decent picture! Good job! Nilo the third pic is a killer. Wow.
