Finally found some spare time to check the rest of my Dumaguete sortie captures and found this, although I have to use high ISO due to the very bad weather, I somehow was able to get the different colors of this sunbird to come out and wanted to share it. Found this sunbird sheltering from the torrential rain below a coconut frond. I hope to get this bird in better lighting conditions next time Flaming Sunbird ( Aethopyga flagrans) Endemic - Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, September 13, 2010 5DM2 + 600 f4 IS + 2x Kenko TC, f4 (f8), 1/125 sec., ISO 3200, Auto Exposure, -1/3 EV, Tripod-Gimbal suport in available light.

Wow, Neon! You got the colors really showing up as if the photo was taken at ISO-100 instead of 3200. Excellent job!

Thanks Guys! @ Edu - If you were listening instead of getting your hands on all the food you would have known already how this is done. I have a short video of this bird, I was shooting alternately stills and video during the downpour.

Great capture, Neon!
Still amazing even at such a high ISO - was there any noise reduction applied? I've heard that the 5DM2 does have very clean files even at ISO 1600, but how is it at 3200?

I am so envious of you guys as I can't see the details of the bird's throat especially so that it is on an equally dark background. I tried to tweak my monitor's settings but I can't seem to do anything about the blacks (at least on this photo). I guess I need to get a monitor calibrator. Haaayyyy! If only an H-IPS monitor is not that expensive.

Good job on the noise reduction here. Superb shot. I will be in Dumaguete 3rd week of Oct, hopefully I will have time to photograph this bird.
