On our last day in Davao (the day after the Bird Fair) this bird perched on a tree not that far from the 2nd floor veranda of the hotel room we were staying in. Collared Kingfisher Insular Waterfront Hotel - Davao City Canon 5D Mk II, 500mm+1.4X, ISO-320, shutter-priority, 1/400, f6.3, camera placed on the ledge of the veranda. ;D

At first glance, it would seem the WB is off a bit, but then, I realize that the whole scene just seems to lend that bluish green look! It makes the photo seem like it's a painting of sorts! Beautiful capture, Tukayo! :-)

I love the overall composition Sir Bob. The vignetting (or what is seems to look like) draws the eyes towards the bird.

I like the overall effect of this picture. Dark BG and the tree stump texture. Nice rich feel to the colors. My kind of pic.

Looking hard at the photo and reading your comments, I decided to "warm" it up. Original temp was 4050, now changed to 5500. Is this one better?

I actually saw the WCKF, a pair, at the back garden. I ran back to my room to get my gear but a gardener walked by and shooed the dating couple away. But this one is nicely set. Beautiful capture. I like the deeper blue BG better on the 1st one, but the WCKF comes out of my screen on the 2nd one.
