Sylvia and I have not gone birding for a few months in the Philippines. Our kids were visiting so we have been spending our time with them. But since they left we have gone to Batangas, Bohol and last weekend Davao. We are already planning more trips. Yay, we are back in the groove. We were in Davao for the Birdfest. Bob, Cynthia, Tina, Wency, Neon and I tried our luck in the Philippine Eagle center early Saturday morning. We got a good view of a White-eared Brown Dove in Davao. It was quite busy eating the fruits and leaves of this tree which allowed a few moments to capture it. One interesting thing I found out is that it has purple eyes. I had an encounter with this species in Anvaya and indeed when it is eating you can really take photos of it. But none of the photos I took are as beautiful as these! Thank you for sharing Tonji! We all miss your posts.

It was good that you decided to go to Davao with Sylvia for the First Asian Bird Fair. I went to the Philippine Eagle Center with the group and was only able to see the Philippine Eagle which is quite exciting for me as it was a lifer even thought it was in captivity. Very nice capture of the White-eared Brown Dove. Well done Tonji. Mabuhay.

Thanks JV.
Thanks Eric.
Ariel, yup its been too long between posts. But I think we are back on track.
Ely, it was a last minute decision to go. But we wanted to show our support to the Wild Bird Club because its their biggest event for the year. There was a Little Spiderhunter in the Philippine Eagle Center, that was our lifer for the trip.

Thanks Mark. I saw this bird eating on the top of a small tree. Sylvia and Bob were with me. We had three cameras aimed at this bird. And yes its nice to be taking pics again.

Thanks William. Thanks Enrique. Bird photography involves lots of luck. I've seen this bird several times in several places and I usually don't have any luck. This time we were fortunate it stayed for some photos.
