Aaaahhhhh.... what fun to record to a blank tape! ;D ;D ;D
The nestling wanted to use the 100-400 IS, but the old man didn't allow him the short cut, he should learn how to shoot long glass without the perks of IS first.
He was so excited in bagging his first lifer (well, all birds other than this munia are photo-lifers to him) that he wanted to go home immediately and process the capture. Good that he's my color consultant for over 3 years now, he's more or less familiar with PS routines.
He's becoming greedy too, trying to convince me that he'd use the Sigmonster at the moon tonight.
;D ;D ;D

Beautiful and excelent capture. I specially like the bright silver color of the bird beak, it looks wonderful and very contrasting with the birds feather colors. Nice.... very nice Saludos, Rene

While I was viewing this pic, my 5 year old son exclaimed "Hey that's a cool bird"! I asked him, "You want to know something cooler"? The one who took the picture was the 11 year old boy you see in the avatar!

He knows ps already??? I'm envious. My grandson is so far away in Melbourne to teach me. I'm glad there's Manny, Neon and Bobby K to come to the rescue. Now, now... there's pogito. Congrats to your first lifer... naks 400mm handheld! I am awaiting your first butterfly lifer. I'm grandmakulit! You will see, no matter how good you are in bird photography, when there are no birds to shoot, you'd be happy if there are butterflies around. Keep wowing us. Sorry Ka Master. We have a new celebrity! telyd

Ganda! I like how the identifying marks are clearly seen. The black on the head with its silvery gray bill and the chestnut color of its wing and belly. Nice catch!

Beautiful capture, Pogito! You did so well with that lens, hand held.
The bird is gorgeous too!, I like the way you captured it so that light on the beak makes it look silver!

Wonderful, wonderful capture Pogito !!!! You should REALLY be proud of yourself ... I had to try lots of times before I finally got an acceptable shot of the chestnut munia. Watch out Romy - before you know it, Pogito will be out somewhere with Arnold together with your precious combos and taking EXCELLENT shots like you

Watch out Romy - before you know it, Pogito will be out somewhere with Arnold together with your precious combos and taking EXCELLENT shots like you I'm having a machine shop weld some steel weights to the tripod collar of the 500 f4 IS to increase its weight to 15 lbs from the stock 8.5 lbs. This will make my fave glass safe from sneaky little hands for at least a couple more years, just too heavy for 11-year old muscles. ;D ;D ;D

Wow, that's awesome Pogito. I don't even have a decent catch of this bird, it's so hard to get close to. That was really good for a start. I can just imagine the proud father beaming from ear to ear.
