Went to the Swamp this morning for a BIF shootout with Neon.. he made me eat pixels! Lighting was awful and Swarple was a no-show. All I got was this docu shot of a White Browed Crake Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.003 sec (1/400) Aperture f/8.0 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 400 Handheld C&C is encouraged

Wow! lovely dream like BG the oval shaped leaves created surrounding the bird Edu!!Sharp birds with lots of detail amidst a blur of leaves and it's a docu shot? Where are you planning to put the non-docu shot along EDSA? ;D So that's what you were up to, I was chatting away and when I looked back I was talking to myself ;D wonder what the people was thinking when they saw me talking to myself in the middle of the swamp among chest high grass with a rocket launcher..nice one Edu!! ;D

Never a dull moment at Villa Lorenzo. The star of the place is still the BCNH. Don't take them for granted as one day which I hope won't be soon, they will be gone and you will be telling yourself I should have taken more pictures. Thats a good looking WBC. Well done Edu. Mabuhay.

Thank you, Sir Neon. I might need some clarification on what a docu shot is and what is not? I treat this as a documentary shot because this is my only (hopefully first) picture of a WBC showing the feet, with one toe bent showing the joint Sir Ely, of course I did not forget the stars.. Here are a couple of (also documentary but behavioral) shots a BCNH showing enough flexibility to reach an itchy area Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.001 sec (1/1000) Aperture f/5.6 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 800 handheld and here is one sporting plumage between a juvenile and sub-adult.. Camera Nikon D90 Exposure 0.001 sec (1/800) Aperture f/8.0 Focal Length 400 mm ISO Speed 400 Handheld

Thank you so much, Sir Bob. You are too modest. Your framed and printed shots are all awesome.

Woooow. Excellent docu shots Edu. The standard has indeed increased for docu shots. If these are now the standard for docu shots, you have just made life difficult for everyone. I would be now thinking twice about posting my best shots or any shots I have for that matter. You really are my idol.

Excellent composition, exposure and timing on all three shots Edu, specially the WBC! Love the large circular texture of the lily leaves surrounding the bird... and this is just a docu shot? you must be kidding!

Hi Edu, Wonderful full-bodied shot of the WBC. I was worried the last time I was in the Edu swamp as I saw a new Housing being build at the site. Being an excellent natural breeding ground for the BCNH I hope we can do something to protect it. Do you think the Valenzuela Gov/ DENR is aware of this wonderful site. If not maybe we can tour them to encourage its protection.

Very nice shots, Edu! I like the crake most.... The second photo you should have cropped it to just show the face and the foot - and then label it as BLACK-crowned NIGHT-heron with two WHITE-horns! That could have been a new species!
