@glenn... Hahaha.... If not for these unwary birds, I won't be able to take acceptable photos with my gear as I have yet to buy an L lens. edwin... Thanks a lot. I also kinda like the BG.

Hi Eric, Where precisely in New Jersey? Other views showing the greater coverts? P. a. atricapillus, and P. c. extimus, are sympatric within the State.

Hello Sir Steve, I too was torn in the ID between a Black-capped Chickadee and a Carolina Chickadee but I based the ID on the wing coverts and the neatness of the bib. Anyway, I would definitely appreciate your definitive ID on this one. I'm not sure if this is the same bird because there were 3-5 individuals when I took the photo. I reviewed all the photos and all the wing coverts look the same. Location is at Piscataway, NJ (Central Jersey). Shooting Info: New Jersey, USA, September 5, 2010, Canon XSi + EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS, 250mm, f/5.6, 1/25 sec, ISO 800, 2.5m, hand held
