decided to switch to Candaba after knowing that the SCTEX was to open after lunch today. the regulars are still there and as the gang had said, very close to the road to get good captures. garganeys northern shoveler* * - a photo lifer for me white breasted waterhen little grebe (breeding plumage) now for some action shots... hehehe oriental pratincole these were in abundance together with a gang of blue-tailed bee-eaters at the western edge of the ponds. had a blast watching them scour the air for insects. purple heron showing off its fighting stance all taken with nikon d200 + reflex nikkor 500/f8 is 200/400, manual exposure, handheld f8, shutter ranging from 1/200s to 1/500s

Great shots Manny. There seems to be more motivation for me to watch posts of water birds in this forum than to be at the scene (+too hot, short lens, no butterflies). You guys deliver the goodies excellently so I just sit back and watch and vocalise my ooohs and aaaahs. telyd

Nice captures Manny!! I'm still looking for a day in the near future to go to Candaba before the ducks fly home. Just one correction the photo you labeled as Tuffted Ducks are actually Male Northern Shovelers. Just the same, very nice and I like the shade of blue color on its head.

I am so jealous Manny! This place Candaba seems so divine. I was blown away by the picture of the `purple heron'. What an impressive bird!
Where is Candaba? Is it a town, a place, or a region of the phillpines?

Lovely Harvest Manny! Like the Shovelers in particular. Sorry I couldn't join you yesterday....your daily job is hazardous to birding.
Anyway, your captures just made me more excited about going to Candaba this week.

Wow, great captures Manny. I like the white-breasted waterhen the best and the in-flight oriental pratincole. Got to go there to catch the pratincole, don't have them yet.
