Being prevented by rains from going out to bird allows one to go back to past captures and invest some time in minor digital surgery. Here's one such capture - the BIF is pixel sharp and nearly full frame but part of its wingtips was cut off. This is an unprocessed and uncropped full frame, just resized to 750x500. And here's the version with two feather tips reconstucted and some canvas added at the top. I used the third feather from the top as a donor. Grey Heron ( Ardea cinerea, migrant) Shooting info - San Juan, Batangas, February 12, 2010, 7D + 400 2.8 IS + Canon 1.4x TC, 475B/3421 support, 560 mm, f/5.6, ISO 250, 1/2000 sec, manual exposure in available light, near full frame, 49.7 m distance.

Excellent surgical work on the bird. It looks like it swallowed a whole bangus as the pouch looks rounded and full. Sometime I wonder if we also look like that after a meal. LOL. Thank you for sharing the wonder of photo shop. Well done Romy. Mabuhay.

The operation is a success, Ka Mastah. Impeccable reconstruction.
I think I have several captures that would benefit from feather transplant. ;D

Very successful cloning Ka Mastah! I've thought at first that you would get the wing tips from another picture having the same and transplant it to your obra. But you did the cloning, and yes!

That's a masterful technique. I don't think anyone could have guessed that you "added" that wing tip there! Simply aaaamazing!!
Oh, and I'd like to point out your masterful use of the 7D with the 400 f/2.8 to achieve a shutter speed of 1/200 at ISO 250! That lens truly ROCKS!

Thanks folks for the comments! Very successful cloning Ka Mastah! I've thought at first that you would get the wing tips from another picture having the same and transplant it to your obra. But you did the cloning, and yes! Yes Alain, if I've another frame with similar wing position, that would've been a much simpler procedure. I've to use a lot of rotation, resizing and distortion on the cloned feather to match it to the host. Hehe.... Bobby, the 7D's AF is as good as the best when using f/4 lenses.
