Absolutely stunning bird and detail, Rey! Maybe I need to forget zooms and just buy the 400mm prime? I always worried about lack of IS, but I've to admit that the IS on the 100-400mm (faulty) L that I have does not help so much at 400mm.

When I was buying my birding lens, Master Romy advised that I must be able to test the lens if it's the 100-400 because of some quality issues at that time. So to be safe I decided on getting the prime becuase I will not be able to test the lens myself. The prime has a much simplier design so there's very few bad copies reported. There are times that I wished the prime had IS but those occassions doesn't happen a lot.
