Hello Birdnuts! Just want to share my recent pictures from Subic. It was raining all the time and the skies were overcast so I had difficulty in capturing these two Subic specials. Comments to improve the pic are most welcome! We still got lucky - got all woodpeckers plus parrots and much more. We just had to bird with one hand on the bins/camera and one hand holding an umbrella. ;D Got to see the Silva-Sonnen match too while the rain is pouring down hard. Hehe, that was a close one for the Spider. Thanks for viewing! Greater Flameback (Male)Canon EOS 350D, Canon EF 300mm F4 L + 1.4x TC, Tripod Support, Manual Exposure mode. Wow.... you got very close to the Flameback, Adri! I've watched the Silva-Sonnen match twice already. The last minute submission was unfortunate for Sonnen, but at least he made Silva earn his purse.

With the rain pouring and to have these beautiful captures I will not complain but thank God for the occasion. I was suppose to go yesterday but had to cancel because of some family obligations. Well done Adri. Mabuhay.

Thanks birdnuts! I got lucky with the flameback, i was waiting for bird activity then i heard them then they landed in a tree very near where i was waiting. then they stayed there not minding me so i fired away. the pair continued on foraging - i realized it is very hard to get the head sharp when they are pecking away. I'll post another shot showing head movement and its tongue sticking out - but blurred when i get back. @alain - you got pm

Love the PoV of the first shot as it appears that you are pointing down towards the Flameback.
