I spent a day and a half at Bilar with Nilo A and Osawa sang (they're still there now!) but I did catch at least 3 lifers clearly enough: Female Philippine Trogon - Harpaxtes ardens Canon EOS 5D Mark II; Exposure: 0.5 Sec at F/5.6; Focal Length: 400 mm plus 2 pcs. 1.4X TC's Stacked; ISO 1600; Exposure Bias: +1/2 EV Rusty-breasted Cuckoo (according to our guide): Canon EOS 5D Mark II; Exposure: 1/6 Sec at F/5.6; Focal Length: 400 mm plus 1.4X TC; ISO 400; Exposure Bias: +1.5 EV Metallic-winged SunbirdFemale - Aethopyga pulcherrima Canon EOS 5D Mark II; Exposure: 1/180 Sec at F/5.6; Focal Length: 400 mm plus 1.4X TC; ISO 1600; Exposure Bias: 0 EV I think Nilo and Osawa will have better captures than these, but at least all 3 are lifers for me! :-) Hope you enjoy them, folks!

Congratulation on your 3 lifers. The Female Trogon is the most beautiful I have seen so far. I wish I could take a picture of it like this one. Well done Bobby. Mabuhay.

Congrats on the haul of lifers, Bobby..... that Trogon is indeed one of the best I've seen!
Regarding the cuckoo, the KG says that some authors treat the sepulcralis race of Brush Cuckoo as a separate species - Rusty-breasted Cuckoo

Yes, I think there is a difference - the tail feathers are not at all like our other brush cuckoos:

Very nice set, Bobby. The Trogon came out superb despite those two additional layers of glasses stacked. Big congrats!

Beautiful birds captured beautifully... the red eyes of the sunbird is competing with the red flower!
Of course the trogon, need I mention again, is superb.

The cuckoo looks like it is regrowing its tail feathers. Is the violet tinge to the gape real, or just an artefact?
