The Blue-headed Fantail (Rhipidura cyaniceps) is a fantail endemic to the Philippines. It behaves very similarly to the Pied Fantail. They are entertaining to watch but difficult to photograph because they are skittish. Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM. Gitzo GT3530LS tripod, Wimberley WH200 head. Manual exposure in available light. f/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/160 second f/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/160 second f/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/250 second f/5.6, ISO 1600, 1/160 second f/5.6 ISO 1600, 1/160 second

Thank you very very very much William. Not that I am complaining but I think they could have been better if only the bird will stay put. Heh heh heh.

Wow, super wow, Ely. I love this little BHF chickadee. You captured the freshness of the cute natural treasure. There must be a lot now in BK Valley, too, or maybe even in Boso-boso. Gosh, these predators will be my butterfly-watching distraction forever and ever. lyd

Fantastic set sir!!!! Third pic clearly illustrates why it is called such. Thank you Edu. I noticed that the tail also has a combination of blue and rufous color just like the head and body.

Would it not be wonderful if you yourself would be able to capture this bird with a butterfly on its beak? Its God's purpose to have this food chain in our system. What a beautiful picture you would have in your wall with two of your favorites together.

I can understand your desire for this lovely bird. The first time I saw them was in Bongabon but it was almost next to impossible to take a good picture of this frisky bird. I had good light in Banaue but it was some distance away and this bird is almost like being in perpetual motion. Good luck on your next birding journey.

If not for the traffic due to the cementing of the road at Dalton Pass we could have save an hour and a half on that trip. It was early morning and it would have been okay if there were birds around but unfortunately there was none.
