Wow!! This is one awesome documentation, Ely!!Seed dispersal at its best, its pooping seeds of the mistletoe and see how the poop sticks to the branch where the mistletoe would grow!! Nothing escapes the machinegun fast shutter of the M4! ;D And checking the photos again the bird literally pointed its orifice at the branch and squirted, not away as most birds would do. From this shot you would think that the bird is knowingly planting for its future, maybe it does. Great work again, Ely!! Thanks for the lesson I picked up today, one for the books. Before I thought that the growing of parasitic plants on tree branches was a random event, that the bird would sit on an upper branch and just bombs away. This photo shows it plants it. The consistency of the poop as well is gel like and would hold the seed from falling as well as draw it near the branch when it is desicated. Really awesome documentation!!

It is only one with a keen eye and knowledge that knows exactly what the bird is doing. You have it all and thank you very much for your appreciation Neon. I thought it to be an act of purely a call of nature. Birds are really smarter than most people think.

Nice shots sir Ely, wow that bird didn't notice you.... Thank you Elvin. That is the best part when the bird doesn't even know you are there and you get a chance to see them in their natural behavior.

Wonderful series Ely. Our friend Tateo O. also got a series on a Red-keeled flowerpecker "planting" the seed of a parasitic plant on a branch of a host tree.
Thanks for sharing the experience.

If only Batad is more accessible it would be interesting to go there for birding.

Thank you Nilo for sharing the information. It looks like it is second nature to the bird to disperse the seed in the proper manner for it to propagate.

Just wonderful Ely. I believe the ID4 is more accurate in getting the optimum exposure compared to the 5D2 hence the quality of the images are much better.

That is what I have been saying all along. If anyone has plans of saving up for a new birding camera the 1D Mark !V is it until they come out with a better one. I am much more delighted with this than my previous camera.
