This is one of my favorite birds and I've been trying to get a good shot of this bird for sometime. Yesterday, a quick opportunity came but not as the one that I really wish for. The reason is because of the backlighting in the 1st pic and due to a busy background in the 2nd one. Hopefully, I can get my dream shot before the summer ends. Taken with my 7D and 400mm f5.6 combo. f6.3, 1/250, ISO400, 400mm, tripod, manual exp f6.3, 1/80, ISO400, 400mm, tripod, manual exp

The masked eyes reminds me of a Raccoon and the red tip wings are a mark of distinction. Any particular reason why they are called Cedar Waxing? Very nice captures. Well done Conrad. Mabuhay.

very nice! The color makes it look like it was shot under mixed lighting.

very nice! The color makes it look like it was shot under mixed lighting. Thanks Edu. It was almost 7 in the evening when I shot this last night. The sun is about to set and probably the orange/golden light color of the sun makes it looks like a mixed lighting effect. Thanks.

These are great shots, Conrad! I like the second photo better. The background is not distracting at all. My only nit, and it's a very minor nit, is maybe it would be nicer if the subject is not right in the middle of the frame.

Thanks Bob and I agree with you. I'm a bit of a rush when I crop this one and totally forgot the rule of thirds. Cheers

A good portrait of a "well groom" specimen. I like the 2nd photo Conrad. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Nilo for dropping by. I modified (cropping) the photo based on Bob's recommendation. It looks much better now than the original one.
