Sylvia and I have been helping out WBCP by doing some bird lists/reports for some places that have asked to have their birds counted and identified. Its more of a speed birding thing than a photo session. We went to Orchard golf earlier in the week then went to Caliraya yesterday and stayed overnight to count and ID the birds in the golf course there. It was binoculars and scope more than cameras this week. But I was able to take this Oriental/ Richard's Pipit this morning before 6:00am. It was quite cool in Caliraya this morning. This bird seemed to be cold because usually the Richard's Pipit stands up with the neck fully extended. I really liked the light and the setting of the bird so I handheld my camera and snuck close for a few shots. Canon 5Dmk2, Canon 500mm f4, 1.4x tc, 1/400, f6.3, ISO 800 handheld, manual exposure, available light Canon 5Dmk2, Canon 500mm f4, 1.4x tc, 1/200, f6.3, ISO 1000 handheld, manual exposure, available light

It looks like a young bird if you noticed the light yellow color at the rear end of the beak. Kudos to you and Sylvia for undertaking such a noble task. Mabuhay.

Nice set Tonji. I really like the 1st one because of the blurry effect on the background. Cheers

I like the low angles too Tonji, the first shot is a killer, love the effect of the OOF little flowers and the red earth.

Glad you guys liked this bird. I saw this bird posing well, maybe it was sleepy. It allowed me to shift position to try different effects. If only all birds would allow us time to compose our shots. The low angle is because it was on a mound. I just had to drop to one knee get the angle.
Nilo, I can handhold my rig for a few photos. If I can't deploy my tripod in time. But only for a short time. After a while I can't hold it up anymore. Hehe.
